Today
it seems likely that Alytus will become a southern center of
Lithuania
in many various fields not only in theory but also in practice. We can reach
such purpose sooner if we plan our every step attentively.
The
PIPE project involved a lot of young people into discussions about Alytus.
However, due to the busyness (connected with being the school-leavers), our
group consists of three members currently - Marijus, Mindaugas and
Vytautas. (http://ligoniz.puslapiai.lt/Medvilne/LT/kontaktai.htm)
We have participated in many different workgroups by far and we can truly say
we're lucky. This time we focus on both the architectural and cultural fields.

Currently, there are a lot of unused buildings that
destroys the image of Alytus. They have been standing unexploited for about 10
years. Going through industrial area of the city shapes your view even worse.
Therefore,Alytus
Youth
Center
project aims to develop the image of the city.
Collaborating
with the past administration of the building we got plenty of impressions and
photos of both the inside and outside. With that came many ideas above all how
to reactivate it. It is a pity that this well-planned, quite well-equipped
building with a wide assortment of potential activities is still "dead". We
persuaded that it perfectly suits for the Youth
Center; all is needed is rehabilitation.
We
created the website of our project to show people how many opportunities we
have. To browse it simply click here: http://ayc.lietuvoje.info
It
is loaded with many photos for you to get as much believable impression as
possible. Alytus
Youth
Center
project will be presented to Alytus
Municipality.
We hope the authority will evaluate it and make the best
solution.
To
involve more people,
we inserted a forum wherein your opinions and proposals are awaited.
More
than one is better than one, isn't it?
:)
Even
if this project is a drop in the ocean, we think that this drop is quite
big.
We
do believe that it would really help the town image to improve! Besides, it
would increase the cultural level locally.
