To Telen on 29th of
January 2003 the participants told that they had looked at Kirkenes. One of the
students, Ingrid Elise Løvlund Rekaa was part of a group, which looked at
architecture and infrastructure in the town. She could see many similarities
between Kirkenes and Notodden, for example that both of them down by the water.
The students would later use the same method to analyse their own hometown,
something they looked forward to.
The same participants were interviewed in
Telemarksavisa two days later, on
the 31st of January 2003. To
this newspaper another of the students, Ketil Sauarlia, told that his group at
the youth conference had asked young people in Kirkenes whether they could like
to stay in their town or move. Ketil was surprised that so many of them wanted
to move. Project manager in Notodden, Egil Rye-Hytten, said that he thought that
more young people would stay in Notodden than in Kirkenes. But, he told, one of
the main goals with the PIPE project was to let the young people themselves find
out what needed to be done in the municipalities so that they did not move.
