In the middle of the summer, in period of 29.06.2003 – 09.07.03 some of the Murmansk participants of the PIPE project took part in the youth exchange organized by Committee of Youth Affairs of Murmansk region, "Youth Service" (Norfolk, UK), HIP (Hogfold, Netherlands).

 The aim of the exchange was to hold the repair work in one of the local orphanages. All the money for working materials was collected by PIPE youths and students of Murmansk State Pedagogical University in the streets of Murmansk together with representatives of the local department of the Red Cross. Youth exchange was divided into 2 parts:

 1. Was held in the local forest camp. This part consisted of seminars (the topic was stereotypes, because vision of national stereotypes is essential for the understanding our local identity), discussions (influence of EU and globalisation), intellectual games and preparation for repair work. Those seminars and discussion helped participants in realising the way the foreigners see national character, our country and the city and the reasons of that.

 2. Second part was repair work in orphanage during the 5 days. In all that was a good possibility to take part in development of city infrastructure.

Global thing usually start from local!
