Telemark is a county of contrasts - between the populated, industrialized areas of eastern Telemark and the open highlands to the west. Agriculture is for the most part carried out on smaller farms, often in a combination of forestry.
Farming is important in some part of the region, but as a whole industry is most important in the economic life in Telemark. Hydro Porsgrunn is situated in Telemark and is the biggest industrial factory in Norway.
The varied and attractive coastline, rivers and canals, the undulating countryside and the mountains, the cultural heritage, festivals and ski resorts attract tourists year round.
In the project Notodden municipality will participate.
