The highlight of the year is the Flower Fair that takes place in
May. In summer the artificial lake attracts swimmers, in winter there is a
swimming pool and ski-tracks.
People of Türi are
fond of handicraft, singing and folk-dance. Moreover, they are ready to share
their skills with our guests. There are two Gymnasiums in the town, a College of
Tartu University, several hobby courses.
Our town has good
neighbours, three rural municipalities, whom we cooperate with. We are hoping
that by 2005, by uniting four municipalities, there will have been created a new
and stronger region with about 12 000 people. This way we can make a better use
of the development prerequisites and resources of the district so that it will
become a better place for our people to live.
Now we are asking
you together with the local youth to evaluate our opportunities for development
at the PIPE Conference in Türi. I believe that the key to success lies in
cooperation. Hopefully your ideas and suggestions will give an impact to new
positive changes and help us give our town a new fresher look, to make better
use of the chances of the town and create new values for people of Türi. I
sincerely hope our cooperation will be
inspiring to everybody.
We look forward to
meeting you in Türi - the spring capital of Estonia!
Kaia
Iva,
Mayor of Türi
