What is INTERREG?
There are several INTERREG programs. They are all sponsored by the European Regional Development Fund, which is designed to encourage partnerships and stimulate spatial and economic development across European borders.

INTERREG III  will exist from 2000 to 2006. Interreg III is divided into 3 stands:

A: Cross-border co-operation between adjacent regions. The aim is to develop cross-border social and economic centers through common development strategies

B: Transnational co-operation between national, regional and local authorities to promote better integration. Developing new policy on spatial planning and environment protection are some of the issues. The PIPE project is going to be an Interreg IIIb project.

C: Interregional co-operation. In this program co-operation across large distances is important. The aims are to improve the effectiveness of regional development policies and instruments through large-scale information exchange and sharing of experience (networks)
